And etched for 1/2 its length includes arms panoply with us and arms panoply wiht wing eagle on the reverse. The blade is near. Mint retaining most of the original luster with just a few small stains.
Regulation hilt with folding counter guard retains much fo the. Original gilt. Sharkskin grip with twisted brass wire wrap complete. Brass mounted nickel plated steel scabbard almost perfect, with no dents or bends.
Beautiful example of this scarce sword that saw considerable service in the hands of regular army staff. And infantry officers during the civil war and indian war. Please note that there si a small dent on the edge of the fixed hand guard, difficult to see in the pictures. Overall near mint example! sU bidders only.
